Bruce Robinson's semi-autobiographical account of his early years as an actor follows two unemployed actors in 1969, Withnail and Marwood,who fed up with damp, cold, piles of washing-up, mad drug dealers and psychotic Irishmen, decide to leave their squalid Camden flat  and  take a holiday in the country at Withnail's uncle Monty's country cottage. Trapped inside the dank, empty cabin with each other, an endless downpour of heavy rain battering their roof, the two men form a  bond fueled by booze, disaster, and nihilism.
